GRCSA - 2004 Champ Show Critique

 AUGUST 2003

JUDGE:  MRS Margaret Hean (U K)

I would like to thank the GRC of SA for inviting me to judge. Thank you also to all the people who entered especially those of you who travelled interstate to give me the opportunity to judge your dogs. David and I had a marvellous time and were "blown away" by your hospitality and kindness.

There were some beautiful dogs exhibited under me and I was thrilled to see really good specimens from both ends of the colour spectrum.

The dogs were all presented and groomed well, and with a few exceptions (a couple that had obviously found the biscuit tin !!) were shown in what I consider to be super condition.

The most predominant fault I found was lack of length in the upper arm. Most had acceptable layback of shoulder but the short upper arm meant that the dog's legs were placed under the front of the chest rather than under the withers where they should be. This also seems to be a common fault in New Zealand at the moment and one that can prove difficult to rectify once you have it in your lines.

I have tried to make my critique constructive, please remember it is just my opinion of your dog as I saw it on that day!

Yours for Goldens

Margaret Hean.
